Decompose

You can decompose number in a variety of ways.

The interesting thing about unit form is it doesn’t always have a 1-digit number in each unit. Numbers can be composed and decomposed in many ways.

Below are 4 different ways to decompose 2,512.

• Example #1: 2,000 + 500 + 10 + 2 = 2,512 = 2 thousands, 5 hundreds, 1 ten, 2 ones
• Example #2: 1,000 + 1,500 + 12 = 2,512 = 1 thousand, 15 hundreds, 12 ones
• Example #3: 2,000 + 400 + 110 + 2 = 2,512 = 2 thousands, 4 hundreds, 11 tens, 2 ones
• Example #4: 1,000 + 1,400 + 100 + 12 = 2,512 = 1 thousand, 14 hundreds, 10 tens, 12 ones
