This teacher-led small group activity includes a printable math mat (organized by millions, thousands, and ones periods), a Number Words Poster, and 12 editable task cards. Students use number tiles and reasoning skills to build, read, and write numbers up to 10 digits.
Students will:
- group digits into periods of three and insert commas correctly
- write number names using a Number Words Poster for support
- identify and correct common place value and naming errors
- explore how zeros act as placeholders when building multi-digit numbers
- describe how digit placement affects value and readability in large numbers
