Area Concepts – 3rd Grade Task Cards

Each activity follows a consistent format to support independence and simplify your math center setup:

1. Clip Cards – 18 cards
   Students count unit squares or analyze shaded areas to find the area of a shape. Later cards connect area to multiplication.
2. Matching Cards – 18 matching sets
   Students match shaded grids and array models to their total area in square units.
3. Math Sort – 18 total cards, including category headers
   Students sort cards into “24 sq. units,” “30 sq. units,” “32 sq. units,” and “36 sq. units” categories to build fluency with area through visual models and multiplication.
