Students will:
• estimate sums of fractions using benchmark fractions
• model fraction addition using fraction strips and number lines
• write addition equations and calculate sums for fractions and mixed numbers
• determine whether the sum is less than 1, equal to 1, or greater than 1
• simplify sums and convert improper fractions to mixed numbers when needed
• analyze sums for magnitude and reasonableness
